August Update! Club Games, Gallery, Becoming a Charity, Five Arches Gaming Club

Hello all, just an update on what’s new with the Dumfries Wargaming Club!

Games list

First and foremost, we now have a list of the games belonging to the club on our blog. These are games that you can just take out and play whenever you would like to, but please treat the game with respect, don’t consume food/drinks over them and be careful when shuffling cards.

The same page also has information about what games are sometimes played/kept at the club and who they belong to. These games are not the clubs, and therefore you have to seek the permission of their rightful owner to play them. Please be aware that you must be extremely careful with other people’s games and if you damage them they are entirely within their rights to ask for a replacement.

Our website now has a gallery of images at the Dumfries Wargaming Club. At present we have only six images, most of which are from the International Tabletop Day a couple of months ago. You can submit your interesting or cool photos of goings-on at the club to the Committee for inclusion in our gallery by emailing the committee – committee (at) or by sending the images to our Facebook page.

The gallery can be found here.

Becoming a charity

It has been determined by the Committee that it would be in the best interests of the club to work towards becoming a charity. We have been seeking advice from Third Sector Dumfries & Galloway on how to do this and the good news is that we are already in a great position to do so.

Day to day, this will not really change anything from club member’s perspectives, at least in the short term, but it will make it much easier to apply for funding and get support in growing and improving the club. I believe this will be a great step forward for the club and indeed the hobby in Dumfries.

Five Arches Gaming Club

The Five Arches Gaming Club have changed the day they run on from a Wednesday to a Thursday. This means that those of you who were unable to visit them due to it being on the same day as the DWGC no longer have that excuse!

I went down last Thursday with Owen and they’re an extremely welcoming and friendly bunch, so I hope to see more of you there as well. It’s good for the hobby in Dumfries that we all work together and support each-other (and the other clubs in the region!) to improve the quality of tabletop gaming in Dumfries & Galloway.

The Five Arches Gaming Club now runs on Thursdays, between 6:30PM and 10:30PM. There is no entry fee, but you are expected to buy yourself a drink from the pub upstairs.
