Hello, fellow gamers!
As you should now know, the club has had an election to select a new committee. This new committee has had their first meeting (keep an eye out for the minutes, coming shortly) and there are a few things we want to make you aware of.
We plan on organising our meetings on Thursday going forward, so expect an update every Friday. Apologies about this one being late, there was a bit of a mix-up regarding a technicality which needed to be resolved before we sent the post out.
We will also be doing the majority of our meetings outside of club time – so as to not waste valuable club time in meetings – and over Skype (or similar), so if anyone wishes to take part in any of the virtual meetings, get in touch with any of the Committee members and we can sort something out.
First, thanks to everyone who has filled out the satisfaction survey so far – if you haven’t done so yet, we would really appreciate it. It’ll only take a couple of minutes and the information we’ve been getting is very useful. We will be sharing the results of the survey and our findings from it in the coming days.
Next, we discussed and determined the following interim offices for the Committee:
Chairman: Alastair Campbell
Vice-Chair: Rowan Winter
Secretary: Mathew Shaw
Treasurer: Sam Crossan
Events Manager: Kevin Williamson
Usually, these positions are determined at an AGM, however due to current circumstances, we have selected these positions internally until we can go through the process to make things official.
YMCA is here to stay
I am also happy to address some concerns which have been going around with some good news – there was previously some discussion about the possibility of the Dumfries YMCA moving out of the current building in Castle Street, which would have left us without premises. I am happy to report, that will definitely not be happening, and the club will be remaining as part of the YMCA for the foreseeable future.
ITTD & Cross-Club Event(s)
I am sure you will all agree that the International TableTop Day was a great success! Thanks to everyone who attended, I hope everyone had a great time. Hopefully some of the people who came along had fun too, hope to see them back at the club.
We’re also looking into organising an event in coordination with the Annan and Carlisle gaming clubs, hopefully to do one big, multiplayer event! We will keep you informed when we have more details to share.
Miscellaneous boring admin stuff
The following things are going to be done as soon as possible:
- Photos of committee members put up to help new members know who’s who.
- Hoodies and ID cards / lanyards will be sorted out for the committee.
- The notice board is going to be kept up-to-date with the latest news.
- We’re going to look into updating the various policies and procedures we have.
